About me

I’m Anita a Polish mother of two daughters. I’ve been living in Aberdeen, Scotland for over 15 years. Currently, I work as a design engineer in the oil and gas industry. My aspiration is to transition within the engineering sector to concentrate on enhancing critical thinking and problem-solving abilities while further developing my skills in the product development.

"Active Bee" desk calendars provide children with a daily schedule of engaging activities. There will be a new activity or task related to cognitive, physical, social, or environmental development every day. Each activity will be accompanied by instructions and guidance in the calendar. Calendars indicate all holidays and events throughout the year. The children will be able to express their moods without feeling overwhelmed.

Many children have a collection of unfinished activity books at home that often go untouched. These books often lack the necessary engagement to keep children interested, resulting in them being discarded or ending up in landfills unnecessarily.

Extensive research was conducted and each stage, including email survey, user observation, interviews and questioning for insights into children’s behaviour and preferences. School curriculum information was gathered through school user trip and teacher interviews. Immersion guided materials selection and online research provided detailed product information and sustainability considerations. A selection matrix aided in the selection process.

The proposed intervention is the “Active Bee” desk calendar, designed to promote children’s development, support the education system, and foster sustainability. Through a range of engaging activities, it aims to enhance cognitive, physical, and social skills while instilling a sense of responsibility towards the environment, creating a holistic learning experience.
