Battle-Bridge
The Future of Tabletop Connection
Flavia Hollyoak
Project Detail
Battle-Bridge is an app that connects tabletop gamers with compatible opponents and automates venue bookings. My proprietary “Algorithmic Vibe Check” matches players based on their preferred play style and personality rather than skill level. This ensures a “psychologically safe” environment -meaning players know their opponent shares their casual or competitive mindset before they even leave home, preventing stressful mismatches. The platform then seamlessly connects these matched players directly to a local game store's booking system.

Problem Statement
While the tabletop gaming hobby is growing globally, local communities are often fragmented into exclusionary "Social Silos." Local play is typically coordinated by closed social media groups. Consequently, new and neurodivergent players face paralysing “approach anxiety” when trying to join.
Simultaneously, physical retail stores struggle to keep their expensive gaming tables occupied to balance high overhead costs, as they rely too heavily on disjointed word-of-mouth.
My Process
Based on ethnographic observations of over 300 users, I utilised morphological analysis and constructive discontent to map the solution space. Rejecting hardware-heavy concepts, I developed a frugal, dematerialised software architecture. By adapting advanced video game matchmaking algorithms to physical retail spaces, I designed a sustainable ecosystem that resolves both human anxiety and retail vulnerability.

This platform is now operational - delivering real value to support the community! Following community feedback, rebranded as Foefind to be clearer on the offering (See www.foefind.com)

A design innovator driven by a passion for social inclusivity and environmentally sustainable architecture, my post-graduation aspiration is to continue developing and commercialising my platform.
