Competition

Open University Design students were invited to submit up to two projects completed during the 2024/2025 academic year.

This year, we received 48 submissions from 39 students across our four core design modules. One standout project was selected from each module, along with an overall competition winner.

Employ-ability by design

Open University Design offered two opportunities to tackle real-world challenges set by external partner organisations.

In the Sustainathon interdisciplinary student teams responded to sustainability challenges posed by English Heritage and The Final Straw.

In the Designathon, students developed designs to respond to a brief set in Johannesburg, South Africa, by Engineers without Borders.
