Omni Dose+

Product

Omni Dose+ is a fast and dependable assistant for daily medicinal and supplementary needs. Designed with autonomy and accessibility in mind, users open the lid, pour in the tablets, and the internal camera scans standard pharmacy labels to identify the pill and its required dosage. The device then sorts each tablet into internal chambers, ready to dispense at the scheduled time.

The app integrates with smartphones and health trackers, especially those tracking sleep patterns. This integration helps find the best time to take a dose and schedule it, ensuring users never miss a dose and stay on track with their daily routine, even as sleep patterns change in real time.

Designed to be easy and safe for all user groups, fitting easily among other tabletop appliances. It keeps all medications in one place, dosed accordingly, and ready. It also features a chamber for most 500ml water bottles, allowing users to take medication with bottled water if preferred. Unlike similar devices available, Omni Dose+ is a well-thought-out design that addresses the core framed problem: "How can we, in general, stay on course with medication & supplements?"

R&D

The proposal began by outlining the problem on a giant whiteboard, leading to brainstorming about how users experience the issue. During virtual brainstorming with the design team, most users reported problems with keeping up with multiple medications.

The development journey began by identifying the elements to be included: dispenser, sorter, detector, scanner, and notifier, and moving beyond a simple pill box to address the problem. Direct communication with peers helped establish the framing of the problem: integrating health management seamlessly into the domestic routine. With the problem statement in place, experimentation followed, looking into other technologies that exist to manage organisation and health.
