Capital City

Simeon

Capital City is an engaging strategic board game that encourages players to outmanoeuvre their opponents rather than race to the finish. The objective is to lead your chosen character to success through strategic investments and resource management.

The game features 67+ tiles arranged in a classic grid layout, each representing different buy-in prices that players can choose once the dice roll is in their favour. A risk factor level indicated by a traffic light system: Red for Risky, Orange for Moderate, and Green for Safe.

Example run of the game:

To establish who goes first...

Select a colour or figurine that will represent your character throughout the game, also gather the corresponding tokens that match your chosen figurine. To establish who goes first, each player will roll both dice.

The player who rolls the highest number will take the first turn. Following the first turn, game play continues clockwise around the table, with each player taking their turn in turn order.

Further Development

An app would be paired with the game, which will allow the host to distribute £1,000 in starting capital to each player, alongside the scoreboard and more.

Process & Research

Research began by looking at different services in my local area that would create the building blocks to the game. I then went onto sketch different layouts till I arrived at a final choice. I then made a list of all resources needed to complete the overall project.
