A Wearable Carrier for Design Tools

Project Detail
I designed a wearable carrier for design tools that can adapt to the designer’s needs.
My Process
The foundation of the design is a flexible pen roll inspired by Sushi mats, built from barbecue sticks woven together with wool. With stitched elastic pockets from a waistband of an old pair of trousers. This is attached to a dowel with two cupboard knobs on either end, which keep the guitar strap in place. This allows the roll to be carried.
For designers who need more tools and or space the roll can be combined with the caddy. The caddy is made from an under-desk wire tidy, with two plastic broom-holder clasps that allow for the dowel to be attached and detached easily. When connected, the roll and caddy function as one unit. The roll providing organised storage, while the caddy functions as a tray where tools can be placed while drawing. A sketchbook can be stored on the side of the caddy via the two large bulldog clips. I used additional cupboard knobs to attach the bulldog clips to the area where the wire caddy normally has a bracket for attaching to the desk. The caddy has multiple modes dependent on need.
