Catch a flight Board game

Rachel Denderowicz

Catch a Flight is a travel-themed board game inspired by classic property trading games but redesigned around international travel. Players move around the board collecting destinations, earning money, and navigating travel-related challenges such as missed flights, airport taxes, security checks, and travel scams. The aim is to build the most successful travel portfolio while avoiding costly setbacks.

The problem I explored was how to create an engaging game that combines strategy, chance, and a travel theme that players can relate to. Many people enjoy travelling but also experience common frustrations such as delays, extra fees, and unexpected expenses. I wanted to transform these experiences into a fun and interactive game.

My design process involved researching existing board games, analysing game mechanics, and sketching different layouts before developing the final concept. Although inspired by the structure of Monopoly, all destinations, travel events, chance cards, rules, and visual elements were designed from scratch. I created every card, piece of money, and game component myself and refined the gameplay through testing and revision. The final outcome is a unique board game that encourages strategic thinking while celebrating the excitement of travel.
