Wish-List Wedding

Stephanie Shelton

Wish-List Wedding is a strategy, role-playing, and luck-based 3D board game inspired by the wedding planning service. It is a clean, wedding-themed game suitable for the family, which is less common among existing marketed wedding-themed games.

Design Brief

Design a board game that is based on a service.

Game components are various card types with additional supporting dice, counters, and whiteboards.

The game rules are that players' counters must climb the 3D cake game board by rolling the dice and moving to the designated spaces. Game spaces trigger card pulls; these cards are wedding-themed collectable items, disaster outcomes, or positive outcomes. Trading mechanics encourage players to trade their strawberry cards to match their starting secret card theme, which doubles the card's points. High dice rolls can also incur card bonuses.

Description of the Project

Game components: reward, disaster, surprise cards; player counters; dice; whiteboards

Furthermore, space landing trading mechanics and dice roll mechanics at the finish line add game-play balance. Results are determined when the last player reaches the top of the wedding cake. The player who obtains the most points win. It is a clean game suitable for the family, less common among marketed wedding-themed games.

Functionally, the cake can be assembled using Velcro, allowing easy storage. The game board's 2D base is round, allowing for smooth movement by rotating the board.
