The Pouch Stand Squeezer
Sabina Karasheva
The Pouch Stand Squeezer is an easy-to-use device that helps pet owners dispense food from liquid pouches without mess or waste. The pouch is securely held in place with a retainer, and the food is pressed out through the nozzle into the cat bowl. After use, the built-in clip allows the pouch to be resealed for clean and convenient storage.
Design Problem
Design a convenient and reusable implement for liquid pet food that allows pet owners to easily remove the entire product and securely seal it for reuse.
The design process began by asking my family and friends which designs they found inconvenient. I then used the Idea Cards method to explore creative directions, with each card offering prompts to inspire new concepts. Initial sketches were developed and evaluated using the 5W1H method.
Process

User walks, experimentation and many (many!) prototypes were the main processes for this project. However the key process was the creative sessions. I used a blindfold and homemade visual impairment googles (using glasses frames, cling film and tape) on participants and disorientated them.
Process

The 3D prototype was made from cardboard and assembled with a hot glue gun. Key components were glued together, and a paw-shaped button was added for a playful touch. The design was refined through testing to improve usability and user experience.
